WHAT WE DO
Our Conscious Producer Investment Program (PIPC) offers producers in a given basin strategies for the environmental development of their properties and has four fronts: institutional engagement; restoration, climate-smart agricultural practices and efficient management of water resources.
CONNECTED LANDSCAPES
The Connected Landscapes component consists of actions for the conservation and restoration of native vegetation on the properties. The need for restoration and conservation actions is one of the main drivers of PIPC, as they have the greatest impact on ecosystem services, especially conservation actions.

WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
Efficient water resources management is a key component of the Cerrado Waters Consortium’s strategy. Besides being the most important indicator of the results of interventions, the sustainable use and health of the region’s watersheds is a priority in the current context of water scarcity.
Water resource governance and monitoring is precarious in the majority of municipalities in the Cerrado, particularly in Patrocínio, our pilot watershed. To be effective, water resource monitoring programs require detailed information on water usage and the quantity and quality of water in the region’s watersheds. This information is essential not only for the Consortium and water and sewage companies, but also for improving the efficiency of water use in agriculture, especially on cropland and pastures.
CLIMATE-SMART AGRICULTURE
The concept of climate-smart agriculture was invented by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 2010. According to the official definition, climate-smart agriculture “sustainably increases productivity, resilience (adaptation), reduces/removes greenhouse gases (mitigation), and enhances achievement of national food security and development goals.” Climate-smart interventions are agreed in the Individual Property Plan contract, which sets out the costs, resources, and indicators, and respective commitments undertaken by the Cerrado Waters Consortium and property owner.

INSTITUTIONAL ENGAGEMENT
